The Cardinal Academy was a design that renovated an existing abandoned Sears building in downtown Muncie, Indiana. This design made use of the existing structure as well as a new addition that would be used for a gym, community classrooms, and community art gallery. Rather than being confined to the existing column grid, we broke free from it and created angled walls, rooms, and spaces that did not conform to the old design. This design move connected the new structure to the old and created incredibly interesting spaces that children would find playful and dynamic.
