The Culinary Institute’s design is directly influenced and informed by its context. Its location on Eastern Market’s axis allows the market to expand across the site while reestablishing the urban density along the streets. Along with this, views of the historic Eastern Market sheds are preserved by using sightlines to form the public building. This structure provides a library, classrooms, and a restaurant for the community to educate the residents about agricultural practices.
